Scratch Jr

Challenge #1: ALL ABOUT

• Create a project all about YOU (example) OR
• All about a literary character OR
• All about a famous person

Challenge #2: CURRICULAR PROJECT

• Explore some ideas & create a curriculum related project:
  • Learn Reading Through Code
  • Social Coding Challenge - Grade 1
  • Social Coding Challenge - Grade 2

Challenge #3: SCRATCH JR OFFICIAL RESOURCES

• Explore the official resources at www.scratchjr.org/teach.html Curricula and recreate one of more of the examples.

Hopscotch

Challenge #1: GEOMETRY

• Draw a shape or a pattern of some kind:
  • Differentiation: Programming & Geometry in 2nd Grade
  • Drawing Polygons & Patterns with Programming
  • Draw a Row of Houses each a different random color

Challenge #2: OTHER CURRICULAR PROJECT

• Check out Hopscotch Lesson Ideas and create one of these or an idea of your own
• Check out the Hopscotch Curriculum and create something in that and figure out how to adapt it for your curricular area.

Challenge #3: ON YOUR OWN

• Explore Hopscotch’s YouTube Channel & recreate something from there
• Complete the leveled activities (under the mountains)
• Complete one (or more) of the challenges (under home)

Tynker

Challenge #1: GEOMETRY/DRAWING

• Easy - Draw a house
• Medium - Draw a row of houses each a different random color
• Difficult - Draw a stick figure person or draw your name in cursive

Challenge #2: TELL A STORY

• Create an All About You Project (example)
• Create a story using the Storytelling Game Kit

Challenge #3: CURRICULAR PROJECT

• Create an alternate ending to a fairy tale
• Using the SciFi theme, create a project that has the Earth orbiting around the Sun while the moon orbits around the Earth

Pyonkee

NOTE: The links here go to Scratch examples because Pyonkee is basically Scratch 1.4 on the iPad so if you can create it in Scratch 1.4, you can probably create it in Pyonkee.

Challenge #1: GEOMETRY/DRAWING

• Draw 2D Shapes
• Program a Mondrian Inspired picture

Challenge #2: CURRICULAR INTEGRATION

• Check out examples in the Integrating Curriculum Studio and in studio of my students’ work for this year and resources at ScratchED for ideas and create something related to any area of the curriculum

Challenge #3: EXPLORE & LEARN

• Use the Scratch 1.4 Creative Computing Guide to explore & learn what you can do with Pyonkee

Tickle

Challenge #1: CURRICULAR PROJECT

• Create a project about ocean or arctic habitats
• Create a math related project using the built in characters and backgrounds

Challenge #2: SPHERO

• Program Sphero to move in a 2D shape while a character on the screen moves in the same shape - no drawing in Tickle.
• Explore the lessons at SPRK Education or in the Activity Ideas With Sphero iBook and recreate one using the Tickle App
• Program Sphero to dance
